Villagers are to create a Captain Tom Memorial Caterpillar next weekend.

A site has been prepared in Pavilion Park, Langtoft, for the event on Saturday May 8.

Organiser Jack Barton said on Facebook: "This is something that we would love you and the kids to get involved in. I think we all admired the amazing amount of money Sir Tom raised for the NHS, this would be a lovely way for us to remember that & the strange times we have just been through đź’›.

"The plan is that the caterpillars head will be laid on the afternoon of Saturday 8th May.

"We then invite you to come and put your very own painted stones down to create the body of the caterpillar, either on the same day, or sometime during the following few days."

Jack continued: "The bench looks amazing after it’s refurb and we will mark our efforts with a commemorative plaque, or carving on it. Of course we would love lots of you to get involved, a real village effort to celebrate this. We hope for it to last many years. "
