Deepings councillors are to meet with South Kesteven District Council officers to discuss the future of Market Deeping's Saturday market.
The get-together was decided at last night's (Tues) culture and visitor economy overview and scrutiny committee when members discussed a district-wide markets overview report - including the Saturday market which is currrently 'taking a winter break'.
At this stage, no date has been set for the meeting.
South Kesteven District Council pulled the plug on the market last month, just nine months after it was relaunched in April 2019.
The council report proposes several options:
• Re-opening later in the spring giving time to attract new traders, relaunch and seek community buy-in to support the market
• Combining with the non-SKDC market on Wednesday
• Changing to a more seasonal/occasional market
• Cancelling the market altogether
