This year's Deepings Raft Race has raised an impressive £7,230 for its nominated charities and good causes.

The 2019 Mardi Gras-themed event will benefit four charities and community groups - Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, Peterborough Air Training Corps (Air Cadets), Deeping United Football Club and Deaf Blind UK.

Andy Pelling, vice-chair of Deepings Raft Race, said: "This is an amazing amount and only possible through the generosity of the local community and business who come together to hold this fantastic event.

"The feedback from the day has been wonderful and it seems a great time was had by all."

As in previous years, huge crowds turned out for the hugely-popular raft race which attracted 40 colourful entries, with 34 completing the course.

Representatives from the various charities and community group beneficiaries, along with the event sponsors, are being invited to the raft race presentation evening being held next Tuesday, 15 October, at The Goat in Frognall, starting at 7.30pm.
